Episode 41: Karen Stubbs
Karen Stubbs joins me for Episode 41. She has a ministry for women called Birds On A Wire which includes a podcast called Wire Talk. It has become one of my favorite shows.
I am so excited for you to meet Karen. She is a seasoned mom and wife. 4 kids out of the house and married for 30 years. She came to my house and we had the best time hanging out. Asking her questions was like having a free counseling session. We talk about parenting strong spirited kids, shaping your child's identity and worth, roadblocks to happiness in motherhood and what to do when your dreams have been put on hold.

I hope you enjoyed my conversation with with Karen. We had so much to talk about that we ended up going to lunch afterwards to continue the conversation. I can't tell you how much my heart was encouraged after being with her.
Takeaways from our conversation:
One thing that I really took away from our time together was the advice about how to shape your child's sense of identity and worth. I have really been working on noticing the good in my girls. When they respond with kindness or have a good attitude or did well with something. I try to tell them. Not only that, but I've been trying to speak positive affirmations over them especially before they head to school. I pulled each girl close to my face, looked them in the eyes and whispered "You are kind. You are smart. You are brave. I love you." @@I am a firm believer that if you hear something enough times, then you will start to believe it.@@ So noticing the good and speaking words of affirmation have been my takeaways.
What about you? I'd love to hear what stuck with you from this episode. Come find me on Instagram or twitter. Or you can contact me through my website if you want to continue the conversation. If you know someone who could be encouraged from today's show, show the love and share. Sharing is caring, right?
Before I go, I want to give a shout out to Katy McGuffey for designing the new look and logo for Surviving Sarah. She captured what I wanted so perfectly! If you should have any graphic design or photography needs, you can find her at ksmdesign.com
Thank you for listening and as always, I hope this show helps you survive a little easier.
