Episode 38: Abby Banks
Abby Banks joins me for Episode 38. When I met her, she just seemed like a normal woman, but after talking with her I realized that she is quite the super woman. She is married with 3 kids and her youngest, Wyatt, is paralyzed from the chest down. Her story is based on how God has carried her through and how healing came in a way she didn't want it to.

I hope you enjoyed Abby's story. I found her so inspiring and encouraging. I especially loved her honestly. When we are honest with each other about what we feel, it breaks down walls.
Abby said, "We are often waiting on God to change our circumstances. Sometimes God calls us to do hard things. Focus on what we can do rather than cry about what we can't do. Find ways to celebrate what you can do." I feel like that has been a consistent message here on Surviving Sarah--just do the next right thing. This challenge takes on a whole new meaning after hearing her story. I know that I would want to quit, to bail out on the suffering, but we can make a choice about what we focus on. I wrote a post a couple of weeks ago titled "When I'm Done" where I talked about wanting to bail out on suffering. And then God in His kindness directed me toward Hebrews 2:18-3:1:
For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted. Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of our confession.
When you are ready to hand in your resignation, know that He is ABLE to come to the aid of those who are TEMPTED. The author isn’t talking about the temptation to sin. He’s talking about the temptation to bail out of suffering. So when we are tempted to bail out on the suffering before us, we consider Jesus who didn’t bail out on suffering. He is the one we look to and follow. He is the one we hold tight to when life knocks the air out of you.
You must go find her on Facebook or Instgram. Wyatt is the cutest little guy and I know you will be encouraged. Her book called "Love Him Anyway" comes out this fall. And the popcorn company, Franklin's Gourmet Popcorn, that she mentioned in her survival kit is generously offered a promo code to all Surviving Sarah listeners. You can use the code MOVIENIGHT on any order until September 15. And head over to my Instagram for a giveaway from them as well.
