Episode 240: Kelsey Murphy

I am so excited to welcome Kelsey Murphy to the table. Kelsey is a Business & Life Coach who has worked with Fortune 500 companies, like Facebook & Twitter, industry thought leaders like Marie Forleo. Her coaching work has been featured in Forbes, Business Insider, and Huffington Post to name a few. She also hosts a fabulous podcast called Whiskey & Work where she shares advice on navigating the waters of business, life, and relationships.

I had so much fun chatting with Kelsey. I didn’t want the conversation to end. She has so much wisdom to offer. In this episode, Kelsey helps us figure out how to visualize the life we want to live whether that is in our work, in our relationships or with ourselves. This is one of those episodes full of practical advice that you can start implementing today.

Survival Kit:

  • Celebrating what you did well at the end of every day

Takeaways:

  • Block off 15 minutes a day for one of your interests

  • Allow yourself time in the beginning to be an amateur, a beginner, with something

  • Set yourself a benchmark - get through the beginning phase and set a benchmark and celebrate

  • 3 year manifesto - What do you want your life to look like in 3 years? Then, every week, look at that manifesto and then plan your week accordingly. What does the ideal life look like first thing in the morning? What would your work day look like?

  • As you tweak and make tiny shifts you feel so empowered and confident and in control of our life. We have so much time if we just reprioritize the things that actually bring us joy and love.

Discussion Questions:

  • How can you figure out what you would like to do based on your personality instead of figuring out what to do based on what others are doing?

  • What is the kind of life you want? Why do you want to work or stay home? Backpedal…what step should you take to get there?

  • What is one thing you would like to start doing that you’ve pushed to the side?

  • What is one thing you can do this week with that?

  • What is your big takeaway from this conversation?
